Summer time in Europe and for motorcycle race fans the world over, there’s only one place to be; Germany and the legendary Sachsenring circuit in Saxony.  The circuit is absolutely awesome, the grandstands provide stunning views of the race action and the efficient event organisation makes for a winning MotoGP weekend.  Our favourite MotoGP of the season.

You’re sure to enjoy your stay at our family run Saxony close to the MotoGP circuit and the town of Hohnstein-Ernstthal where all the festivities take place.  From the Friday evening welcome BBQ to your departure on Monday, your hosts go out of their way to make sure you have the best time ever.  The hotel has a minibus on standby (chargeable) so that you can travel into town for all the motogp festivities and concerts that take place in the town square. Most of our guests ride to the event. So if you are planning to do the same,you will be delighted know that the hotel has private parking both at the front and back of the hotel.

The package includes 3 nights hotel accommodation, welcome BBQ, coach transfers to the circuit and you can book our event with or without tickets.

You’re sure to enjoy your stay at our family run hotel.  Located near the town of Hohnstein-Ernstthal and close the Sachsenring circuit.  From the Friday evening welcome BBQ to your departure on Monday, your hosts go out of their way to make sure you have the best time ever.

Our 20 room hotel has a fantastic restaurant that serves great value homemade food and local wines.

We have Single, Twins, Doubles and Triple bed rooms.  Rooms are extremely comfortable well appointed and all have en-suite facilities.

Why you should stay at the Waldhotel

Our family run hotel is so friendly and inviting that guests instantly feel at home and relaxed.  The hotel has a brilliant vibe with locals and MotoGP fans coming and going throughout the race weekend.  But without doubt, the standout advantage of the Waldhotel, is it’s brilliant location.  Situated in a picturesque village and on the edge of a forest.  The hotel is only a 10 minute taxi ride or a 45 minute walk through forest trails to the centre of town and the Sachsenring Circuit.

For MotoExpress guests the hotel has a minibus on standby (Euro 5.00 / person / way) so that you can travel into town for all the MotoGP festivities and concerts that take place in the town square on Friday and Saturday evening.

About room types

Deluxe Double

This double bedroom offers a balcony with scenic country views. Relax in our bathrobe reading your book and listening to the birds. Enjoy the quietness of our surroundings.


This is a twin room which could suit two adults who requested seperate beds or a parent and child. There is a bathroom with shower.


These single bedrooms can be booked as a deluxe single with balcony or as standard single without balcony.

Apartment for 4 persons

A large self contained apartment with kitchen and spacious bathroom. The apartment features three seperate bedrooms. Best suited to a 4 person family or a group of 4 friends.


Ticket information

Tickets are valid for Friday, Saturday Qualifying and Sunday Race Day. Our consecutively numbered tickets ensure you sit with your partner or friends.  The Sachsenring, with it’s 80 year heritage of motorcycle racing, can justifiably claim to be central Europe’s premier circuit.  From 1995, following the reconstruction of the new Sachsenring, the venue has gone from strength to strength, culminating in over 250,000 fans attending the 2008 MotoGP.

Ticket types

General Admission

The German Sachsenring Circuit is a track with massive rise and falls and far more twists and turns than any other circuit on the MotoGP calendar. In short it's a circuit that is made for fans who like to walk and see 'what's occurring'. There a large grassy banks and giant video screens which make spectating a joy. The food and drink at the German MotoGP is far superior to that of other circuits.

T7 Honda Grandstand

The most popular Sachsenring ticket.  Always the first to sell out.  Superb tracks views, and a giant video wall keeps you in touch with all the race action.  Your grandstand is in the centre of the stadium complex with its superb atmosphere.  Directly behind your grandstand is a huge catering and bar area.

Your T7 ticket also allows you walk around the entire circuit and access the general admission areas.


Package highlights

Welcome reception BBQ party

The race weekend starts with a traditional German BBQ which is held in the hotel’s beer garden.  It’s a great opportunity to meet your fellow MotoGP fans.  After the BBQ you hop on-board the hotel’s shuttle bus for the short ride to Sachsenring party.

German Food and Drink

Can anyone resist the heady combination of a tasty Bratwurst or a spicy Currywurst washed down with a Stein or two of foaming beer?

Walk to the circuit

Although we have private bus transfers to the circuit, some guests choose to take the forest walk to the circuit.  It’s a scenic walk through a forest to the town of Hohenstein-Ernstthal and the Sachsenring circuit.

Extend your stay

We strongly recommend that you book extra nights.  Saxony is great region of Germany to holiday.  Unspoiled countryside and picturesque villages to discover.  The roads are a motorcyclists dream.  Don’t forget to visit the infamous Colditz Castle.


Getting there

The Sachsenring circuit and our hotel is situated in the town of Hohenstein-Ernstthal.

Rail Stations

The following local rail stations are listed in terms of proximity to our hotel.  Also taxi fare from station to hotel.

  • Hohenstein-Ernstthal – Taxi 15 Euro
  • Chemnitz – Taxi 40 Euro
  • Burgstaedt – Taxi 20 Euro

Riding or Driving

The Sachsenring Grand Prix makes for a fabulous holiday ride or drive.  Distance from Calais to Hohenstein-Ernstthal is 560 miles or 900km.


The following airports are listed in terms of proximity to Hohenstein-Ernstthal. Also the journey time from airport to Hohenstein-Ernstthal rail station.

  • Dresden – 1hr by car/train
  • Erfurt - 1hr 15min by car
  • Leipzig Halle - 1hr 30min by car/train
  • Berlin Tegel – 3hrs by car/train
  • Berlin Schoenefeld – 2hrs 30 min by car/ train

British Airways, Lufthansa, Germani and Air Berlin operate flights to above airports. Germania is a low cost airline and has an interesting service for the MotoGP weekend. Flying from London Gatwick to Erfurt. Travel out Thursday return on Monday for low cost flight.
